We recently undertook a project at a charming barn, nestled in the beautiful countryside of Cwmbran, South Wales. A rustic waney edge gate and fence were built, made to measure on site. With irregular edges and rustic appearance, it perfectly complements the rural setting, enhancing the inviting atmosphere.
We use FSC- certified timber throughout, ensuring that all materials come from responsibly managed forests.
The unseasoned waney edge boards, cut from Douglas Fir, retain the bark and natural profile of the original log. The construction incorporated 4x4 posts, 3x2 rails, and the waney edge boards, topped with 4x2 framing.
The waney edge design not only adds a unique aesthetic appeal but also reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into their creation. As visitors approach the property, they are greeted by the natural elegance, which integrates so well to the tranquil gardens.
Inside the garden, we also cut into the existing slabs, worked the ground, fully prepped it, and added topsoil to plant sizable laurels. These will mature quickly, enhancing the garden's aesthetics.
