Decking & Fencing Installation in Cwmbran, South Wales

We recently undertook a garden project in Cwmbran, South Wales. This was a small garden which was a blank canvas, as you can see below.

We began the work by replacing the two side boundaries with 6ft feather edge fencing, but as per the customers request, left the back fence standing.

Our made to measure feather edge fencing is built using 4x4 posts concreted into the ground at the correct depth, with plenty of concrete to keep those posts firm. We then use 3x2 rails and a standard feather edge board. Here you can see the progress.

Additionally, our customer required an area to house a set of chairs and table for enjoying some al fresco in the sunshine this year.

At the back of the garden was the perfect sunny site in which we built a small decking platform. Our decking framework is built using 6x2 and is fixed using 4x4 posts concreted into the ground. We check for a suitable run off for rainwater and that the structure is extremely solid before moving onto boarding. This particular deck had sleepers incorporated into the step to match the retained sleeper area.

To the side of the decking we created an area retained using railway sleepers which is filled with golden flint landscape stone, with stepping stones leading to the small sheds. This is an affordable way of having a weed free practical, low maintenance area.

Once we had completed the work up to this point, we were asked to carry out further work of installing the gravel path.

This also involved refacing the steps and fixing down slabs as well as adding golden flint around them, covering the old concrete base there. Having gravel nearby to your property is also an effective security feature as you can hear that crunch when it's walked on. Something worth bearing in mind, if you are making plans!

This project has given the garden a face lift, but the work isn't over yet!

This has given our customer a good base now to create some flowing borders, with plenty of plants, shrubs and flowers. The lawn will also be repaired with grass seed. It would be great to see the transformation of this garden throughout the summer and if I do get some updates, I'll be sure to share them here for you to see.

Thanks very much for reading.
