Sleeper Wall in a Terraced Garden

Here is a lovely little project for you to take a look at. Working on the middle section of this terraced garden. As you will see from these before photos, originally, the border was fairly steep with a mixture of plants and shrubs throughout.

The objective was to make the area more easily accessible for both tending to the plants and in order to maintain the hedge. And so the work began. We moved in 2 ton of oak sleepers which were held in place using 4x4 posts concreted into the ground, 4 ton of soil, fitted a weed control membrane and installed 3 ton of golden flint.

The top section was planted using the existing specimens, leaving some space for additional lavender.

We also worked on a new set of steps, keeping with the theme. You will see the before and after photos for this below.

Everything was given a good watering and wash down as we were tidying up!
